
The BMRZ is a technology and infrastructure centre at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It was founded in 2002 and is a research infrastructure facility for high-end nuclear (NMR) and electron magnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR). It is finacially supported by the state of Hesse. Our research is dedicated to the elucidation of structure and functional mechanism of biomolecules ranging from RNA and RNA-protein complexes via large soluble protein complexes to membrane proteins. Techniques available:
- several high-field liquid-state NMR (up to 950 MHz)
- high-field widebore solid-state NMR (up to 850 MHz)
- large range of EPR spectrometers (from X-band to J-band)
- a liquid-state and a solid-state NMR DNP setup
- an advanced Linux cluster
- all required molecular biology, biochemistry and also chemical synthesis are carried out in house
Scientific community:
- the center in one of the European Large Scale Facilities for Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
- it is part of the iNext consortium for Integrating Infrastructures for Structural Biology, see also this article.
- all PIs are fully integrated into local research initiatives such as the
- teaching contribution to Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry and Biology
- approximately 100 PhD students and postdocs conduct their reseach at the BMRZ
- part of the vibrant Campus Riedberg in Frankfurt am Main
